The interior layout design for Free to Breastfeed book was my second collaboration with Kathy & Scott from Praeclarus Press publishing. Free to Breastfeed is a heart touching book about real moms and their real life stories. A strong community of African-american women share the good and the bad about their breastfeeding journeys. But the book is not so much about the bad moments—it is an encouraging statement of hope and determination.
At the start of the project, Kathy, Scott and I went through a few pre-production check marks for creating an elegant but friendly overall look. We agreed on important details like font choice, leading, running head styles, consistency, etc. Most photos were taken by the moms themselves and I had to manually and thoroughly retouch every photo. I used Photoshop to delicately retouch all photos.
I consider myself very lucky when I get the chance to work on heart-touching projects like Free to Breastfeed book. I also enjoy working with amazing creative professionals like Kathy and Scott from Praeclarus Press.
