Journal of Christ I Am was first published in 1991. The book is a touching statement about the importance of listening to God.
Marilyn needed an updated more modern version of her first edition. She provided me with a beautiful pine tree illustration that she personally drew back in the days. The pine had a personal significance for her and the cover needed to make it truly shine. The real challenge was to make the title memorable and to pleasantly accommodate the lengthy text on the front too.
Superimposing the elements over a dramatic sky was my approach in creating the contrast that Marilyn’s pine tree illustration really needed. I was also very happy with the top layout for the lengthy subtitle of the book. The back cover wasn’t lacking originality either; the scene wrapped around and created a nice continuous effect. I placed the old book cover on the back to remind people that the new cover was a revamp of the initial edition.
Marilyn was a joy to work with. She really appreciated my book cover design expertise and was extremely open to my suggestions. The revamp was a success in making the cover shiny and memorable.
